Wildlife Festival & Chuckwagon at Wildlife West
Join the celebration of New Mexico’s native wildlife at Wildlife West Nature Park’s Wildlife Festival in Edgewood on . Wildlife West’s zoo is one of the few places where people can be close to and observe wildlife in their natural habitat. Get a behind the scenes tour of Koshari, a 500 pound black bear, Wiley Coyote and the newest arrivals – two 8 month old mountain lions. Tours start at and run each hour throughout the day.
This year’s Festival will include a special presentation by Joe Viljoen from the ChaZen Nature Conservation & Education Center located in the Vredefort Dome in South Africa, an international World Heritage Site and largest and oldest meteorite structure on earth. Come hear about their efforts to promote wildlife conservation and learn about exciting opportunities for African safaris near their Center that will benefit Wildlife West. Other presenters include US Fish and Wildlife, Herpetological Society with their reptiles and other environmental conservation groups.
Stay for the first of the summer season Cowboy Chuckwagon and Western Swing Dinner Show beginning at with a free-flight Peregrine Falcon show by Tom Smylie, Falcon expert. Come see these incredible birds and learn how the fastest raptor on earth survives in the wild. Then a barbeque dinner, followed by live western-swing music performance by the Bucketeers, ending at The show is held in a covered all-weather amphitheater and includes a free hayride. Reservations for the dinner are required by on the day of the show. Chuckwagon tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors, $12 for children 5-11, and kids under 5 are free.
All activities throughout the day, except for the Chuckwagon Dinner Show, are included with regular admission to Wildlife West: $9 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 students and children under 5 are free, plus free parking.
